Topics of Social Issues - Bad BoysAfter a friend of mine told me that I had to go to a 'manly' bar one evening and find a topic of social issues that would interest me, I couldn't help but laugh. My wife didn't want me to go to a bar where women were naked; she thought it was lame and gross. I didn't want to spend an evening with the guys in my old fraternity because they wanted to watch movies about guys having sex with other guys. They were talking about hot chicks and stuff like that.It was only after an encounter with a fellow fraternity brother that I learned of topics of social issues. My old fraternity was so bad that they talked about topics of social issues at the house only if they were forced to. Their supposed friends, members of the opposite sex, wouldn't allow them to talk about anything if they said something that offended their purity.So I went to the bar and found a group of young man drinking beer and talking about subjects that they obviously hadn't read about. The y were talking about topics of social issues. I thought about what they said and how hypocritical it all was. It was obvious that they didn't care about anything except for the fact that they got laid. One guy was discussing how much he enjoyed spanking his girlfriend because she didn't follow him around like a little puppy.This goes directly against every concept of respect that I had ever heard before and it shows how out of touch the fraternity was with the young woman's heart. She had read of topics of social issues and found that they were about how men feel entitled to women's bodies and that if a woman doesn't think that they are entitled to her body, then she is just a bad girl.Another one of the guys was trying to get his young girl to spank him so that he could get more pleasure from the sensation of being whipped. I must admit that I laughed as the young girl tried to tell her boyfriend not to go home with any fraternity guy because she was a lesbian. He could have anyone he wanted, he said.The young woman was right, of course. Her boyfriend was crazy and that was obvious. Anyway, she wasn't too upset about it because she realized that his group of brothers didn't seem to know anything about these subjects.A few new chapters of fraternities have arisen over the years that have started talking about things like these. One school recently made the bold move of allowing women to join. They were allowed to attend lectures on topics of social issues at the university and asked questions if they needed to. It was really nice to see something different and the first step to creating a community.Old fraternities and sororities need to learn how to change their behavior so that they don't become the laughing stocks of the college community. If you have boys that are bad, you should stop letting them get away with bad behavior and make them understand that there are people that support them that have their backs.
